How it works

Binchotan is an active carbon made from tree branches and is renowned for its ability to soften water, add good minerals and absorb unwanted tastes and odours, such as chlorine.

Black + Blum charcoal is sustainably sourced from a renewable forest in Laos. It’s burned to up to 1800°F using an ancient method and then rapidly cooled in the earth, producing a very smooth, very dense material that naturally filters water.

If used in just over 34 fl oz of water daily, it will last for 3 months. You can then recharge it by boiling it for 10 minutes, and it will last an additional 3 months.

Is charcoal dangerous if swallowed?
No, it isn’t. Active charcoal tablets are often prescribed to treat a number of different medical issues, like upset stomachs, high cholesterol, and even hangovers..

How to use it

The curvaceous shape of the bottle, gives a natural position for your hand and makes it comfortable and reassuring to hold.

Drop & Lock System

The bottle is specially designed to hold the Binchotan charcoal securely in place. Simply drop, squeeze, tilt and lock, to prevent it from moving inside the bottle. Charcoal is an organic product, so the thickness can vary. PLEASE NOTE: The important thing is that the charcoal locks in place, even if it appears to be only barely inside the groove. If you force the charcoal into the space, you can cause the bottle to crack.

Leak Free Design & Silicone Seal

The natural cork and silicone stopper is held securely in place by the reassuring stainless steel ring, so there is no danger of the bottle leaking in your bag. Also, the fabric loop makes it easy to carry your bottle while on the go and it also helps you pull the stainless steel ring to secure the stopper.

How do I clean the cork stopper?
Cork can darken over time through use. We recommend washing in warm soapy water, to wash away finger marks.
